An evening of poetry
Burford Literary Festival, Oxfordshire
28 September, 5pm
Tickets and details available shortly from https://www.burfordlitfest.co.uk
‘I want to make poems which are places so that the reading of the poem resembles inhabiting, or at any rate contemplating, the place.’
I shall be reading new poems inspired by time spent on North and South Uist and Barra, islands off the west coast of Scotland. There will also be poems that inhabit places nearer to home.
After the reading, there will be refreshments in the garden.
Singing into the dark
More conversations about poetry (the fifth in a series)
Quaker Meeting House, Pitts Lane, Burford, Oxfordshire
Thursday 2, 9, 16, 23 October 2025 10.30–12.15
Over four sessions, we will read and share our responses to a variety of poems. We’ll be looking at the poetry of the past as well as newer work and will consider why poetry matters in this troubling world.
